Women
About me

Lucie SABEV/OVA (1980, Ostrava)
She specializes in both painting and sculpture. In their works, which are characterized by sincere emotionality and strong expressiveness, the main and starting point is always man, as an individual in the endless process of finding a fixed point in an all-encompassing and contradictory world. In their earlier works, this man was mostly symbolically represented by a woman's body entangled in an imaginary web of various circumstances, when by traditional and own techniques, and in various ways of sophistication, she transformed, washed away and deconcretized the initial situation, from clearly realistic compositions to the fantastic state of shapes and colors that very evoke the inner emotional universe in each of us. From these all-encompassing symbolic nebulae, a much more universal art language was gradually born, seeking and exploring the area at the eternally shaky interface of chaos and order. Her distinctive and urgent visual interpretation balancing between abstract and concrete expression gives us the opportunity to venture into an incredibly mysterious space. As she notes: "Complexity is everywhere and just where chaos meets order, and there are such wonderful things as life or thinking ... and our unsuspected creativity." Lucie Sabevová mostly captures her interpretations of the world on large-format canvases and experiments with non-traditional materials when creating three-dimensional objects. She has been working in the field since 2005, when she gained her first experience in the studio of the Ostrava artist Miroslav Sabev. Her work can be found in a number of private collections both at home and abroad, or, for example, she decorates the interiors of a boutique hotel in Sri Lanka. Recently, we were able to get acquainted with her work at an extensive retrospective exhibition in 2017 in the Gallery of the Silesian-Ostrava Castle in Ostrava, or through an author's installation in Brighton, which she prepared for the local AOH Festival 2018.
